This 1977 Ducati 900SS, or “The Texas bike,” as it became known among everyone at the shop, was
the worst starting core we had ever received. But being a Ducati
bevel SuperSport, it was easy to keep the hope alive that one day it
would be sexy as the day it left Italy. Once you hear a desmo bevel
start up, you never forget it. A massive amount of hours went into
this restoration, removing 35 years of corrosion. All engine work was
done without disrupting what the original assembler had created. The
motorcycle still stands with its “DM” lead seal that bound the
crankcases in 1977!
